Food

As you all should know, there is nothing I love better than food.
Thats right, food. I love to shop for it, I love to prepare it, I love to smell it, I love to feed it to people, and I love to eat it.
Unfortunately, I love food so much, and I am so lazy, that I've spent one-bajillion dollars (thats a fact!) on lazy-man food. Takeout, delivery and being waited upon are something I have gotten way to used to in the last three or four months, and I've had enough.
So I took the plunge, and spent a shitload of money on groceries. What I wasn't planning on was how little said groceries would make.

Plan: Spend a little extra money on organic produce
Sudden too-late realization: Extra money on less food, healthy in theory and practice, painful on pocketbook. Makes me want to eat slightly less, which could be a good thing considering how much of a glutton I can be, but I just wind up wanting snacks.

Plan: Cook continuously for a few days, making soups, breads, curries, burritos etc. to freeze until feeding time.
Sudden-too-late realization: Cooking three things at once is stressful, so is realizing you are short the odd ingredient every ingredient. Also, batches of soup never seem to make as much as I think, I always think I'll get like 6 servings out of something, one I can eat, and five I can freeze. It never works that way. Somehow I only end up with two or three. Also, dishes! ('nuff said)

Plan: Cook all the foods I want.
Sudden-too-late realization: One whole onion, will not make three recipes needing one whole onion each. Duh. I didn't buy enough!

When it comes to me, cooking ahead for myself is great in theory, but maybe I should just make one meal at a time from now on, and just keep myself stocked up on the basics, buying the good stuff only when I know I want it.
